Here at The Chic Blog, we’re always on the lookout for amazing makeup artists in the North West. A great MUA is the secret behind every girl’s flawless night-out look – and our latest discovery is the lovely Elle B. Her unique style and techniques are beloved by many models and celebrities, and we sat down with Elle to chat makeup and more in this latest Chic Meets feature. With an upcoming Kardashian-inspired Makeup Masterclass on April 18th, we asked her what it was like to be taught by one of the world’s biggest makeup artists and quizzed her on the products she holds in her own makeup bag. Read on to find out more about Elle B!
When did you find your passion for makeup and beauty?
I have always been obsessed with the beauty industry from a young age. My mum influenced me strongly by having her own skincare company, Crystal Clear Skincare. I have bounced to and from, doing facials to eyebrows, but always found myself back doing what I love, which is makeup artistry.
Who are your biggest makeup inspirations?
I often find most of my inspiration from different artists on my discovery page on Instagram. As I follow a lot of makeup related pages, I find amazing artists and work all the time which I love to take inspiration from.
You recently visited New York to be trained by one of the best makeup artists in the world. How was your experience?
New York is a magical place on its own. Meeting Mario Dedivanovic and learning some of his inside tips and tricks was amazing. I love how flawless and effortless his work is and it was great to see how he puts makeup together up close and personal.
Do you have any tips or advice for aspiring makeup artists?
Some of my early bird advice would be to do as much work as you can, even if it’s free of charge, just to get your name out in the open! I would also say patience and lots of practice are key. You never stop learning as a makeup artist, even after years in the industry!
What is in your personal makeup bag?
Believe it or not, if I’m not going anywhere major I keep my day to day makeup very low key. I keep the essentials in my makeup bag. I have a Crystal Clear Skincare moisturiser, an Anastasia Beverly Hills brow definer pencil, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Nars creamy concealer, Hoola Bronzer, YSL Baby Doll mascara and a Too Faced blusher.
What do you love most about doing makeup?
I love being able to give my clients confidence and bring out their inner beauty. It’s so rewarding when they’re happy!
Which is the one piece of makeup you couldn’t live without?
I think I’d have to say my foundation. I pride my skin on looking flawless all the time, so I definitely couldn’t go without it!
What is your top tip for the girl at home trying to master the perfect contoured look?
Blending, blending and more blending! Diffusing your contouring helps you avoid that stripey dirty look and gives a natural-but-effective result.
Where are you located?
I have my own makeup studio based at 34 Rodney Street, L1 9AA but I do travel around the UK for certain work!
Do you do makeup lessons and one-to-ones?
Yes I do! I offer one to one make-up lessons during the week for a cost of £60.00! The tips and tricks I will be teaching during my upcoming masterclass have never been shared before and I do not teach these during my one to ones!
